Strength. Wisdom. Possibility.
Welcome to so many new subscribers
Over the past week, a large number of you have joined The Gift of Age. Thank you for subscribing.
Several of you have come via the recommendation of Dr Caroline Day from Tuscaloosa Integrative Medicine in Alabama. She has been so generous in sharing my Gift of Age publication with her patients and community. Caroline and I were at medical school together in South Africa in the 1980s, which makes this connection feel especially meaningful. Caroline, thank you. And please check out Dr Day’s substack My Medical Makeover.
And to those from all over the world who are new here, a warm welcome! I’m so glad you’re on this Gift of Age journey.
This space is about reframing aging. Not as decline, but as a stage of life that can hold strength, possibility, and wisdom.
I write about the physiology of successful aging, healthspan, and longevity-muscle, metabolism, brain health, and hormones. But also about the lived experience. The moments that are joyful, and those that are tough and challenging.
This stage of life is a powerful chapter. One that calls for strength, perspective, and a sense of purpose.
You’ll find pieces here on protein and strength training, on brain resilience and what we now understand about cognitive aging. On hormones and their role across the decades. On the essential work of recovery. And reflections from my own life; travel, spirituality, swimming, cycling, family, grandparenting, grief, and the interplay between all of these and our health.
My intention is to bring together the best of science with motivation and inspiration. And to offer you strategies that are both practical and meaningful.
If you’ve just arrived, here are a few places to begin:
–The Truth about Belly fat after menopause
– Strength in a Bowl
– Your Brain Is Not Meant to Fade
– This is the Moment
– Eat More-Ozempic, Mounjaro and GLP-1s- who should take these?
And also feel free to follow The Gift of age Podcast streaming on all your favourite channels-Apple, Spotify and here on Substack
I’m so very glad you’re here.
Please feel free to share this and reply or comment—I read every message.
Warmest wishes for strength and health,
Linda
